There are 1273 microfilm rolls and thousands of microfiches. Microfilms hold material in english and oriental languages. In English language portion, along with other books and derails, there are some valuable catalogues of collections i.e. European manuscripts, John Lawrence, Hamilton, Lansdown, Morley, Lord Cross, North Brook, Johnson, Elliot, Curzon, Johnson, Elphinstone and Elgin etc.
The collection of manuscripts in Sanskrit, Hindi, etc. is 8,671 volumes. This is the largest collection of Sanskrit manuscripts in Pakistan.
It contains 5250 books. The books are in Urdu, Arabic, Persian and Punjabi languages, and some in English. It covers the subjects of the Holy Quran, Tafseer, Hadith, Fiqh, History, and Mysticism.
Late Abdul Aziz Maimon (d. 1978) was a great scholar and donated Rs. 1,00,000/- to the University in 1975. 1157 books on Arabic literature and reference have so far been gathered in this regard.

Library is providing free digital library facility to its users. This is open source software which uses mysql and tomcat softwares. This digital library currently holds 32,000+ full text records of thesis, articles, books, CDs/DVDs. Users can access and download their required material within the premises of library. Library staff gathers material of various types and feed it into digital library program for further downloading. There are various ways to get the material for this program as following:
Library staff receives demands of users for their required material and search through internet to get them. Upon successful retrieval of required items, one copy delivers to concerned student and adds in digital library collection as well.
Library has a collection of CDs/DVDs. These CDs are as accompanying material along with foreign purchased books. Students can read and write this material free of charges. Most of the CD collection is related to science subjects, however CDs related to IELTS, TOEFL, GRE and English dictionaries etc. are also available. Metadata of this CDs/DVDs collection is available into digital library catalogue.
Library holds manuscripts, newspapers, rare items and other documents of historical importance in its collection. These items need to be preserved for future use and to fulfill the research needs of researchers in country or from abroad. In all this process, intellectual property and copyright laws are keenly observed. Metadata of this digitized collection is available into digital library catalogue.
Many library users share their digital collection with library administration for the help and sharing with other students. Library staff enters such material in digital library for sharing with other users.

Punjab University administration has declared Chief Librarian, Punjab University Library (PUL) as focal person for Turnitin issues for HEC. The University has given the responsibility to Chief Librarian of issuing certificate to research works as plagiarism free. In this context, all M.Phil, Ph.D dissertations and faculty research publications are bound to get plagiarism free certificate before their submission in the University. To make this process convenient, Turnitin accounts have been created for faculty members and departmental librarians. Research scholars can contact to their supervisor or departmental librarian to pass through their research work from Turnitin before applying for final certificate.
1) Head of department have the authority to send research work of their faculty member or research scholar along-with a CD packed in a sealed envelope to Chief Librarian. 2) This CD must have title page, abstract and all chapters. This CD should be labeled with title and author name. Our IRC section will receive the request and check CD on spot to ensure the availability of required information. 3) As per HEC guidelines, acknowledgement, table of contents, bibliography, references, appendices and running title etc. should be removed from research work before their uploading in Turnitin so these items should be removed before writing the research work on CD for submission to the Chief Librarian office. 4) IRC section will examine the results of Turnitin as per HEC criteria and if it is according to the criteria, the research content will be submitted in Turnitin student paper repository and a plagiarism free certificate will be issued to the author name and send it to concerned head of department through proper channel. 5) Turnitin student paper repository ID will be mentioned on the certificate as an evidence. Certificates are issued on first come, first serve basis without any un-necessary delay. 6) For any clarification in this issue, researchers can contact at 042-99231126 to IRC section during office timings.
