This resource provides
access to full-text periodicals placed online by the US federal
government. Users can begin by selecting subject, subdoc number, or
title, the latter two of which provide direct access (as well as
publication information) to a very impressive number of government
periodicals. The subject section allows users to narrow their search
by selecting one of almost 40 topics and then conducting a targeted
keyword search.
PubMed Central provides
access to full-text periodicals and is managed by the National
Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) at the U.S. National
Library of Medicine (NLM). Access to PubMed Central (PMC) is free
and unrestricted.

Access notes: Not all journal titles listed on the
Highwire Website are available in full-text format. Access is
provided primarily to articles published in back issues of journals
but some current issues are also available. Many journal titles are
offered on a short-term trial basis only. Some titles are available
on a pay-for-access basis.
Academic Info is an
independent Internet subject directory compiled and maintained by a
volunteer group of subject specialists based in Seattle. It aims to
be a key "educational gateway to online college and research level
Internet resources. The current focus is on English language
resources but will selectively consider sites in other languages.
Some sections will have an obvious American emphasis (The Student
Center, listings of academic departments) but over time a real
effort will be to become more international."
